Above average -- categories that we expect to perform above the overall market.  The returns expected are not forecast to be as high as out-perform, but we still expect better than the average return.  We recommend buying these funds if you do not already own them.

Average -- most categories receive this rating.  We expect funds in this category to return close to the overall market averages.  We recommend holding these funds if you already own them.  Long-term investors may still want to buy these funds to appropriately diversify their portfolios.

Under-perform -- categories that we expect to return less than the overall market.  Investors who have losses in funds with these ratings should sell them.  If you have gains, we suggest selling if you need to rebalance or need the cash.

Significant under-perform -- our lowest rating reserved for categories that show major risks for lower returns compared with the overall market.  We recommend selling these funds whether you have a loss or gain.  We rarely give this rating since it is unusual for all factors to point to lower than average returns.
